Valencia almonds are considered the “queens of almonds.” They come from sunny Spain and are shorter, rounder, softer, and sweeter than classic California almonds. We’ve roasted them for you in sunflower oil and lightly sprinkled them with sea salt. The result is a luxurious treat that’s a must-have at any party.

Why spend money on expensive vitamins when there are plenty of healthy foods right at our fingertips?

Nuts are an amazing source of nutrients that you can always have on hand, and they’re also very filling. They make for a healthy and quick snack—all you have to do is choose which nuts are just right for your family.

We import all our nuts directly from their countries of origin, and thanks to our strong relationships and fair dealings with our suppliers, we’re often able to secure exclusive rights directly from the farmers and growers of the finest nuts and fruits from around the world. That’s why we provide the very best products for you and your family.

Did you know that… the

history of almonds dates back to ancient times?

Almonds are considered one of the oldest foods in existence, and they’re mentioned as early as the Old Testament, where they were highly prized. They are among the longest-cultivated nuts in the world and were even found in the tomb of the Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamun.

Why almonds?

Almonds grow on a tree called the almond tree and are essentially the kernel of the tree’s fruit. The origin of the almond tree is not entirely known, but it likely originated in Central Asia, from where it later spread to other continents.

The vast majority of almonds are grown in California, USA. It is said that they account for as much as three-quarters of global production. The remaining almonds come mostly from Spain.

It’s almost unbelievable that such a small nut contains so many health-promoting nutrients. A large portion of the almond consists of “healthy” fats, which have a beneficial effect on blood cholesterol levels and are important for proper brain function and heart health.

Almonds are among the most nutritionally rich nuts. Second only to cashews, almonds have the lowest calorie content, which is why they’re often recommended for weight-loss diets. Thanks to their high fiber and protein content, they help curb overeating and quickly satisfy hunger pangs when you or your kids are craving a snack. If you have an athlete at home, you can pack a few almonds in their bag to boost their energy.

Almonds contain lipids that aid digestion, detoxification, and the healthy growth of beneficial bacteria in the gut, thus acting as prebiotics. Probiotic cultures have a beneficial effect on the microflora of the large intestine and, especially in children, play a crucial role in the development of the immune system.

Almonds are an excellent source of antioxidants, which slow down the aging process and may reduce the risk of a number of diseases. Most of the antioxidants are found in the almond skin. Almonds are particularly rich in vitamin E, which is the body’s most important antioxidant; just one handful of almonds provides a third of your daily requirement. The body cannot produce it on its own, so it’s important to include it in your diet to stay healthy and vibrant for years to come.

In addition to unsaturated fatty acids and antioxidants, almonds are a source of minerals such as phosphorus, copper, zinc, potassium, manganese, and magnesium.

Magnesium, in particular, is very important for our bodies, because a deficiency can lead to cramps, headaches, nervousness, and fatigue—things no mom needs. In children, a deficiency can also lead to poor mental development or a weakened immune system. And since the body cannot produce it on its own, it obtains it from the diet. Magnesium has a significant impact on our muscles, helps lower blood pressure, and regulates our nervous system.

There are dozens of varieties of almonds on the market. They vary in size and shape, but to make it easier to navigate the selection, they’re divided into several categories.

Almonds from the U.S. are classified into five categories based on their typical shape, skin, and other characteristics. Among the most popular varieties are Nonpareil and Carmel almonds, which you can find right here at Diana Company.

Carmel almonds are beautiful, light-colored, medium-length almonds with a thin skin, and their flavor is noticeably sweeter than that of Spanish almonds. They have a more pronounced flavor than Nonpareil almonds and are slightly more affordable. They’re perfect for use in the kitchen.

Individual varieties are further classified by size, specifically by the number of kernels per ounce (28 grams). The smallest kernels are labeled 32/34, and the largest are 18/20—so the smaller the number, the larger the almond. Here, you can purchase Carmel Supreme 20/22 almonds, which are the second-largest variety.

Usage Instructions

Nuts have a wide range of uses in both cold and hot dishes. They’re great for cooking and baking, but especially as a snack on their own. To enhance the flavor and add more nutrients, you can mix them with other nuts or dried fruit to create a super nutritious and delicious snack that’s always on hand. Flavored nuts are also the perfect treat for evenings with friends. You can try different flavors—you’ll see that everyone will find their favorite.
